Day 3 - Sun. June 12, 2011: Munich

We landed in Munich around 9:00 in the morning. After going through customs and grabbing our bags, we got onto a bus and headed to our hotel, which was about a 40 minute drive into the heart of downtown Munich. After taking some time to check-in to our rooms and freshen up, we headed next door to Munich's main train station, Hauptbahnhof Station, for a quick lunch. The next stop was to Schloss Nymphenburg, meaning "the Nymph's Castle." This castle was the summer residence for the rulers of Bavaria.
Next, we went on a walking tour of downtown Munich which included seeing Marienplatz, the central square of Munich, and St. Peter's Church. Our walking tour ended with dinner at Hofbrauhaus Brewery, one of Germany's oldest breweries. For dinner I had Bavarian marinated beef with pretzel dough dumplings.
