Day 7 - Thurs. June 16, 2011: Weimar

We left Nuremberg this morning and took a 2 and a half hour train ride to Weimar. Train rides through Europe are interesting....usually the train stops at the station for only 2 or 3 minutes so you have to get on and off the train quickly. Weimar is a city in former East Germany and is a cultural center in Germany. Weimar has been home to some well known poets, musicians, and artists like Bach, Goethe, and Hans Christian Anderson. There is a beautiful 80 acre park in the city of Weimar that houses some neat ruins.
For dinner I had a wonderful meal of thinly sliced beef wrapped around cucumber and onions with a brown gravy, red cabbage, and potato dumplings (a specialty of this region of Germany).
